With reference to the speech made by Mr Varun Gandhi in which he has made derogatory remarks against the Sikh and Muslim Communities.
1. Varun Gandhi is a Candidate of the BJP. This makes him Mr Badal’s ally in the Akali – BJP Coalition.
2. I would like Mr Badal to clarify whether he agrees with these derogatory remarks against both the Sikh and Muslim communities, and if not, what he proposes to do about it. Any nationalist and sensible person has no option but to strongly condemn such an irresponsible utterance which i most strongly do.
3. The BJP by endorsing Mr Gandhi today as their candidate, have endorsed his statement.
4. It is most unfortunate that the BJP, a party that considers itself a nationalist one, should endorse such an irresponsible and anti national statement, rather than condemning it.
5. Neither has a statement been made condemning it by either the BJP or the SAD in the Punjab. They must know that silence means consent, and they must therefore clarify as to where they stand on this issue.
