Tewari emphasises need to promote girls’ education LUDHIANA, AUGUST 22: Ludhiana MP

LUDHIANA, AUGUST 22: (Dharamvir Nagpal Paris) Ludhiana MP and the national spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari today emphasised the need for promoting the girls’ education. He said although a lot of progress had been on this count but still a lot more needed to be done.

Addressing a function organised at Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar Chowk Ludhiana to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, Tewari recalled the outstanding contribution of the former Prime Minister towards modernisation and computerisation in the country.

The day was also celebrated as the ‘vanmahotsava diwas’. On this occasion, eleven students from across the state who had topped in the plus two exam were also honoured on the occasion.

Tewari also planted saplings in the school to mark the vanmahotsava celebrations.

Teari exhorted upon the students to ensure that they work and excel well in education as that would enable them to become successful in their life.

Addressing the function Chief Parliamentary Secretary Harish Rai Dhanda appreciated the performance of the school. He congratulated the students and the staff for the outstanding achievements which matched the best of the schools.

The Principal of the school, Kanwaljeet Kaur welcomed the guests and thanked them for blessing and encouraging the students with their presence. She also presented a charter of demands to the visiting dignatories.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Rajinder Thapar, Pawan Dewan, Harish Singla, Sudheer Syal and others.
