'Made' for each other
In Feb 2007, Gerard , a British National, got upper and lower eyelid surgery done by Dr K M Kapoor at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, just days before Valentine's Day to look younger. Now, two years later, for this Valentine's Day, Carol has travelled from UK for the same surgery on herself, again at Fortis Mohali!
Mohali, February 2, 2009: It's a kind of special gift from Carol to her husband Gerard Conroy. On January 24, 2009, Carol got Blepharoplasty done by Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr K M Kapoor, for loose skin on both the upper and lower eyelids at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. Almost 2 years ago, her husband had got a facelift and Blepharoplasty surgery done by same surgeon at Fortis, Mohali so that he could look younger just few days before Valentine's Day. Obviously satisfied with the results, the Conroy couple came back to Fortis and this augurs well for medical tourism to the tri-city as well as to India.
"The couple is a perfect example of how partners are undergoing cosmetic surgery to improve their faces and bodies to match their partners," said Dr. K M Kapoor, Senior Consultant, Cosmetic Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, "No longer is Valentine's Day all about young lovers trying to woo their beloved, it now holds a special meaning for the 'young at heart' who are celebrating their relationship and coming closer together with a special kind of bond," he added. "Also, their visit is important as there has been lot of apprehension among medical tourists regarding travelling to India due to various media reports after Mumbai incidents. But this couple has proved those apprehensions wrong and have come to India knowing that this country is very safe to travel. Also the medical treatments in India are economical & of very high quality, especially important in current scenario of recession."
"The excellent facilities at Fortis Hospital and expertise of Dr Kapoor made us come back again to the same hospital. The hospitality of Indian people is exceptional" said Carol and Gerard.
Talking about the procedure and its benefits, Dr. Kapoor said, "Blepharoplasty can be both a functional and cosmetic surgical procedure to reshape the upper or lower eyelid. This is done by the removal or repositioning of excess tissue as well as by reinforcement of surrounding muscles and tendons. When an advanced amount of upper eyelid skin is present, the skin may hang over the eyelashes and cause a loss of peripheral vision. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed to improve peripheral vision or for cosmetic reasons. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is almost always done for cosmetic reasons, to improve puffy lower eyelid (eye bags) and decrease the wrinkling of skin".
According to Dr. Ashish Banerji, Director, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, "International patients are very particular that the doctors should be skilled and experienced, the hospital must have all facilities to take care of any eventuality and the highest standards of hygiene and comfort are maintained. Fortis Mohali, with its prestigious JCI and NABH accreditations, has become the Hospital of choice for such patients and we are very happy to be of service to them."
