PRESS NOTE
S Raninder Singh extends his greetings to the people of Punjab and Punjabis worldwide on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi.
Speaking on the eve of Sh Rahul Gandhis visit, S Raninder Singh said “The youth are excited about the possibility of emerging political equations in the Congress Party, envisaged by the High Command and personally nurtured by Rahul Gandhi”.
Rahul Gandhi has emerged as the leader of a billion aspirations.
After all nearly two-thirds of India is below 35 years of age, the cut-off for ‘youth’ according to the National Youth Policy. According to the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, voter turnout is highest in the age group 46-55.
A study by the Imagindia institute says parties that put up candidates in the age group 30-45 have an advantage. This is based on what the institute calls ‘Age-Voter pulse model’. It assumes that the ability of a candidate to connect with the pulse of voters depends upon the age difference with the electorate.
Empowerment of youth is a vision Rahul Gandhi holds close to his heart. He personally ensured four tickets to youth to contest the Parliament elections in Punjab.
Arriving in Talwandi Sabo on the occasion of Baisakhi, he will pay obeisance at Takht Damdama Sahib and then address a large gathering of workers.
