CHANDIGARH, April 23
The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee has sought immediate implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission in the state. In a joint statement issued here today, the Chairman Punjab Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee Capt Amarinder Singh and the PCC working president Lal Singh said, the government was deliberately dilly-dallying the issue to deny the employees their rightful due.
The two leaders pointed out, the government was earlier trying to use the excuse of election code of conduct. Now with the implementation having been cleared by the Election Commission of India, the government has no reason for delay. “By constituting a committee for the implementation which is supposed to file its report within 15 days the government is only biding the time”, the senior Congress leaders said, while adding, the matter of the fact remains that the government is neither sincere nor serious about implementing the recommendations.
Capt Amarinder and Lal Singh observed, there is every apprehension that the government might back out after the elections and delay the matter for an uncertain period of time. They asked, “what is the logic behind constituting a committee when everything is already clear, these are just delaying and denying tactics”.
Expressing their solidarity with the protesting employees who are seeking immediate implementation of the pay commission recommendations, the Congress leaders said, their sympathy and support was for them as they understood their problem. They remarked, “the government must accept the fact that it has already turned bankrupt as earlier it had presented the vote on account budget and now it is denying the employees their rightful due”.
The Congress leaders asked the government, “at least be sincere and sympathetic towards the people who are running your show against all odds”. Sukh Ram gets bail in assets case
New Delhi, April 22The Delhi High Court today granted interim bail to former Union Communications Minister Sukhram, who was sentenced to three years imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case by a lower court.
Justice S Muralidhar suspended the operation of sentence till May 14 and issued notice to the CBI to file its reply on his petition challenging his conviction and sentence in the assets case.
The octogenarian Congress leader was sentenced in a 13-year-old corruption case by the lower court on February 24.
The court had also ordered forfeiture of Rs 4.25 crore disproportionate assets amassed during his tenure in the PV Narasimha Rao government.
The court had then suspended his sentence for two months giving an opportunity for him to appeal in the High Court against his conviction in the case in which the CBI had seized a whopping Rs 3.61 crore in cash from his houses in Delhi and other places.
He was also slapped with a Rs 2 lakh fine by the court which did not award him the maximum imprisonment of seven years under the Prevention of Corruption Act. — पीटीआई

The manifesto released by the SAD yesterday can best be described a bundal of white lies that reflects the 50 years of political cheating that S. Parkash Singh Badal has done with the Sikhs and Punjabi’s. The SAD has completely abandoned its main ideological ‘Panthic agenda’ and a few demands like transfer of Chandigarh, demand for left out Punjabi speaking areas, more powers to states are cosmetic demands which Mr. Badal has himself never taken seriously, he could have got a few implemented when the NDA ruled from 1999 to 2004 and he was CM Punjab last time.
Similarly the promise of Rs. 2 per Kg rice and wheat to the poor are a last ditch effort to woo the voters whom they have cheated with their Atta- Dal by making blue cards on partisan lines. Knowing fully well that the underprivileged felt cheated by the Atta- Dal scheme, the Akali’s are making a desperate attempt to befool them again.
As far as the promise of the SAD to allow more autonomy to the CBI and the Election Commission are concerned, it is a clear attempt to hoodwink the voters of Punjab. The electorate fully well knows that a regional party alone cannot alter the powers of such important national level organizations. Why the Akali’s did not get these organizations more powers during the NDA tenure? Can the Akali’s get more powers for the CBI or the EC while they themselves have been begging for more powers to the states for the last 50 years?
Similarly the promise of one rank one pension doled out to the ex-serviceman is not in the purview of the SAD-BJP Govt., it is a national issue to be decided by the Indian Govt. and not the Akali’s.
The Akali’s have utterly failed to implement their state level promises in the last two years made by them in their manifesto during assembly elections. Their claim to make Punjab power surplus in 3 years has fallen flat, where is the Anandpur Sahib resolution of the Akali’s, asks the Congress party ?
Sensing defeat on all 13 Lok Sabha seats the Akali’s have embarked on making false and frivolous promises to the Punjabi’s. The Congress party urges the aware voters of Punjab not to fall prey to such bogus and misleading propaganda of the fraudulent Akali’s and their untruthful leader S. Parkash Singh Badal.

In a press release issued by the Head Office of Shiromani Akali Dal at Chandigarh, it has been stated the Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema Secretary and Spokesperson, SAD will file his nomination papers as SAD candidate from Anandpur Sahib, Lok Sabha Constituency, in the Office of District Electoral Officer, Ropar on 23 April, 2009
S. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Panjab, Sh. Balbir Punj incharge, BJP affairs for the state of Panjab and other senior leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP will also join Dr. Cheema at the time of filing of nomination papers. All the SAD M.L.As representing different Vidhan Sabha Constituencies falling in Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency will also be present on this Occasion.

ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਬਰਾਕ ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੋ ਮੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨਿਕ ਅਹੁਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੀਸ਼ ਪਾਲ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਦੀ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ. ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਫਤਾਵਾਰੀ ਰੇਡਿਓ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਧ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਥ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਦਾ ਅਵਰ ਸੱਕਤਰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਣਗੇ. ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਵਾਜੋਂ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਸ਼ੇਰੀ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ, ਸਿਹਤ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਦੀ ਲਾਗਤ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ.

Max New York Life Insurance yesterday visited Aryans Business School (ABS) for summer placements of its MBA students. Mr. Ankit Manocha (Branch Manager), Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma (Senior Territory Manager) and Ms. Sukhdeep Kaur (HR Trainer) were a part of the team which had visited the campus.
On the occasion, a pre-placement talk was held following this, personal interviews (PI) of the students were held in which 14 candidates have been short listed for the summer placements. Students have been offered the role of Financial Planning Consultants (FPC).
On this Anshu Kataria, Chairman ABS said that summer internship program plays a significant role in the career of students as it provides an exposure of various management aspects.

ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੇਤਾ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਧਾਰ ਅਗਵਾ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਲਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ 'ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ.ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਰਅਸਲ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ ਹੀ ਕਮਜੋਰ ਹਨ. ਇੱਕ ਜਨਸਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਕੰਧਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਝੁਕਾਇਆ ਸੀ. ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਦ 'ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ.ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 1990 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਫੜਿਆ ਸੀ. ਰਾਹੁਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੱਤਕਾਲੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਤਰੀ (ਅਡਵਾਨੀ) ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਛੱਡੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ. ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਮਤਲਬ ਨਿੱਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੱਤਕਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ.

ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੇਤਾ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਧਾਰ ਅਗਵਾ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਲਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ 'ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ.ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਰਅਸਲ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ ਹੀ ਕਮਜੋਰ ਹਨ. ਇੱਕ ਜਨਸਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅੱਤਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਕੰਧਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਝੁਕਾਇਆ ਸੀ. ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਦ 'ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ.ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 1990 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਫੜਿਆ ਸੀ. ਰਾਹੁਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੱਤਕਾਲੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਤਰੀ (ਅਡਵਾਨੀ) ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਛੱਡੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ. ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਡਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਮਤਲਬ ਨਿੱਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੱਤਕਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ.
