Manish Tewari visits Knits & Wears’09

Promises all possible help to local industry

 

LUDHIANA, 8 JUNE

Knits & Wears’09, the National level Buyer Seller Meet which is going on at the PAU grounds and Hotel Le Baron today laid down the red carpet for the newly elected Lok Sabha MP from the city Mr. Manish Tewari. This meet has brought retail buyers from the length and breadth of India to Ludhiana.

Tewari visited the PAU pavilions and was highly appreciative of the entrepreneurial skills of the members of Knitwear and Apparel Manufacturers Association of Ludhiana (KAMAL) which has organised this meet. He was accompanied by Sh. Darshan Dawar and Sh. Vinod Thapar, President Knitwear Club. They were welcomed by executive members of KAMAL led by Sh. Sudershan Jain, Sh. Arun Aggarwal, Sh. S. K. Palta, and Sh. Sunil Kumar.

            Sh. Vinod Thapar, President, Knitwear Club on behalf of his association and the entire hosiery fraternity, in his message, pressed the need for the central and state governments to extend all support to the city’s backbone industries.

While welcoming Manish Tewari, Sudershan Jain highlighted the support the local industry has received over the recent past from him especially the Textile Park Project which is going to provide a great boost to our Hosiery, knitwear and apparel industry. He also pressed forward the industry’s long felt need for a conducive and permanent infrastructure in this city itself for such interactive expositions since Ludhiana caters to almost 95% of the total woolen apparel demand of the country. “Such an infrastructure shall help the local manufacturer to not only save time and resources but also present a more organized front in the face of growing National and international competition,” he said.

Manish Tewari also conveyed his congratulations on the excellent arrangements made by KAMAL towards the success of this event which is bound to facilitate the business process and also assured the industry of all possible help in their future endeavors.

On its second day, this 5 day long exposition received a tremendous response as buying delegates thronged to the numerous cubicles exhibiting a range of products such as sweaters, cardigans, pullovers, coats, jackets, shawls, etc. The participating companies are also very excited about this great opportunity to increase their goodwill and new business prospects.
