INDIA ASSOCIATION DONATES PONDS 80;000 TO CHARITY

India Association donates £80,000 to charity
On the 20th of July, St Marks Hospital foundation Harrow, honoured Bobby’s walk, at Park Plaza, Wembley, which was organised by India Association, a London based Charity. About 250 guests attended this Dinner where a cheque of £80,000 was presented by Bobby Grewal, chairman of India Association, to the chairman of St marks foundation, Mr Le Brieke, for Bowel Cancer Research.
Bobby started this charity walk on 4th June 08 last year from capital of Scotland, Edinburgh and completed on 9th July at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London, after five weeks. Bobby slept most of his five weeks journey in the caravan along with his colleagues, Ashok, a PR support and manager of the walk along with Surjit Muther, driver cum back bone during the walk, offering drink and food during walk and company in the evening. Almost every night the trio parked their caravan in the Tesco/Sainsbury car parks and passed the night there.
A major function was held in Huddersfield, organised by Inderpal and friends, where 0ver £30,000 were donated to the Bowel Cancer Research, at St Marks Hospital Foundation, Harrow. My second major Stop was in Leicester, where a huge function was organised by Baroness Verma, Davinder, Inderjit, kooldeep and Ashok. Over 350 guests attended the function and over £15,000 of donations were collected for the Research.
Just before the walk on 2nd June, Jassi Khangura, MLA from Punjab, specially flew from India and organised a small gathering of 50 or so friends at the Monsoon, Southall and donations of over £40,000 were pledged and to date nearly £40,000 have been collected.
On the 9th July at 11am, the walk was led by R. H. Dominic Grieve, M.P., to the Speaker’s apartment, where lots of dignitaries were gathered to greet Bobby’s walk, followed by speeches with canapé s and drinks, which were provided by Lord and Lady Sheikh. Bobby thanks every one, from the bottom of his heart who supported this Charity Walk in any shape or kind.
