Why is Africa Poor?

Africa , a land rich in natural resources and human potential, is home to some of the world's poorest people. Why? In three programmes, award-winning reporter Mark Doyle travels across the continent in search of answers. He asks if the spread of democracy and modern communication tools will stop Africa 's endemic corruption and 'big man' politics? He questions multinational corporations, many of which financially dwarf the African countries they operate in, to find out if their 'ethical' practices actually help local people? And investigates what difference, if any, these practices will make in the face of a global recession. The question is simple. The answers are not.
