A New Chapter in the History
October 14, 2006 have gone down as red letter day in Punjab as Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee of Great Britain created a new history by opening Dr. Ambedkar Buddhist Resource Centre Punjab on Behram-Mahilpur Road near Village Soond. The Resource Centre is an ambitious Project for the purpose of Spreading and propagating Buddhist and Dr. Ambedkar's Mission effectively in Punjab for the realisation of Dr. Ambedakr's dream. The Resource Centre have been inaugrated on the occasion of Golden Jublee of Baba Sahib Dr. Ambedkar's Dhamma Kranti by Hon'ble Ven. Bhadant Anand Dev Mahathero, President All India Bhikhu Maha Sangh. Spiritual head Adviser of Ambedkar Buddha Centre Wolverhamton U.K., Ven. Phra Maha Somboon Sidhiyano, Bhikkhu Gian Rattan Head Bhikkhu Vinay Kendra ( U.P ), Bhikkhu Jagta Nand Head Bhikkhu Sangh Punjab and Bhantey Kashup also delivered parvachna of Lord Buddha' gian, pragaya, Kruna, Mattri and Panchsheel to the Upasakas. A big golden colour Statue of Lord Buddha installed in the 'Maha Somboon Buddha Vihara' newly opened for the public. A buddhist Panch Sheel flag was unfurled by Mr. Raj Kumar Paul President Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee of Great Britain U.K.
In the second session in a large congregation Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee of Great Britain's President Mr. Raj Kumar Paul disclosed here today that this multi-purpose complex will be a unique and outstanding one of its kind in Punjab. It has been designed to undertake a variety of activities. However it will consist of three major facilities within the complex, Buddha Vihara, Community Centre and School. It will also include a skill centre undertaking skills including learning computers, Sewing, sports and Dispensary. At times Seminars will also take place covering issues against the use of drugs, alcohol abuse and will hold health camps on eyes etc. One Eye Camp had already take place prior to the opening of the Buddha Vihara at the Dr. Ambedkar Buddhist Resource Centre on the 12th October 2006 sponsored by Committee's Vice-President Murti Mall.
Mr. Paul also said that It will also endeavour to provide support and resources to other organisations in this field work to spread the mission of Dr. Ambedkar in a positive way and to develop a strong Buddhist Community in Punjab. Due to the efforts of Dr. Ambedkar, our people are now able to live like human beings, and it is our duty to take forward his message amongst those who are still longing for their freedom and liberation.
Our deepest thanks both to Mr. Gurdial Chand Sandhi and his family for donating one acre of land for the Centre and Mr. Darshan Ram Jassal, the first President of the Committee, whose unparallel donation of one crore Rupees, towards the construction of the Centre will never be forgotton in the mission of Dr. Ambedkar.
Prominent scholar Dr. S. L. Virdi Advocate said, today the whole world is sitting on ticking bomb, countries are fighting with each-other, Religions are advancing towards yudha, on the other side society does not need yudha but Buddha. Peace and prosperity could be prevailed only by going on the Buddha's Path of Equality, Liberty, Fraternity and Justice.
Committee's Gen.Secy. Kamla Chumber said Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was a liberator and emancipator of the dalits of India. His crusade was to uplift these disadvantaged people who were subjected to inhuman treatment for many centuries due to the caste system and untouchability. He restored their human dignity and self-respect, which is a glorifying chapter in the History of India. Commitee's Propagator Sec. Mr. Surinder Jhalli said, "India's name in the world is due to Lord Buddha's Panchsheel and Dr. Ambedkar's biggest Constitution and Democracy of the world.
A Souvenir "A Memorial of the Greatest Peaceful Revolutionary of Modern Times Dr. B. R. Ambedkar" and regarding activities of Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee of Great Britain was released by Mr. D. R. Jassal. A VCD "Dr. Ambedkar Songs" by Mr. Sohan Lal Rattu was also released.
Mr.Ram Parkash Jakhu, cashior from U.K, Mr. Nirmal Kumar Salhan, Manjit Kainth, Balbir Sandi (Bodhi), Sanjeev Kumar, Param Jeet, Nirmal Hakumatpuri, Rachna Devi, Harbans Kaur, Anil Kumar Bagha, President Dr. Ambedkar Youth Organisation, Hoshiarpur, Mr. Harbhajan Suman, President Ambedkar Sena also spokes.
Two minute silence was observed in the memory of untimely death of Mr. Kanshi Ram and Mr. Mohan Mehmi ex-president of Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee of Great Britain (UK).
Mr. Shadi Lal Salhan, Satya Salhan and their Family sponsored food and tea to the eight thousand people who participated in the function.

The establishment of a resource centre is a very cnstructive work. The contributors to this noble cause deserve all praise and regard. This is what Dr. ambedkaar expectd from the educated and enlightened Ambedkaarites. I am sure that more and more Ambedkarites will join this project which will be a true memorial for Dr. Ambedkar.
