Press Release from Mr.Sukhpal Singh Khaira MLA

In what can be termed a classic example of mockery of law by influential persons holding important political positions I am attaching a copy of reply given to me by ADGP Security Punjab Police vide his letter No. 6205 D.D.S.B – 3 dated 27.08.09 under the RTI Act 2005.

According to the reply to my letter dated 3-07-09 in para 2, the SSP Kapurthala has stated that Bibi Jagir kaur is running two vehicles with her, PB 08 U 3447(Temp) and PB 08 Y 3346(Temp).

According to startling information provided by SSP Kapurthala in para 3, the gypsy jeep bearing No. PB 08 U 3347 which Bibi Jagir Kaur illegally misuses as her escort vehicle is actually the number of a scooter registered in the name of Sh. Surinder Kumar S/O Harbans Lal R/O Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar as per the record of Distict Transport Office. Similarly the number of her personal vehicle Ford Endeavour bearing No. PB 08 W 5553(Temp) has actually been allotted by Toyota company Jalandhar to an Innova vehicle on 23-05-08 to Vishal S/O Milkhi Ram R/O V. Talwandi Kuka P.O Maqsoodpur Tehsil Bholath Distt. Kapurthala.

According to para 4 of the letter SSP Kapurthala has instructed all heads of Police Stations in Distt. Kapurthala to immediately take action against the above stated two vehicles bearing red lights on entering Distt. Kapurthala.

It is extremely unfortunate that firstly an elected representative was provided wrong information by the then IGP Headquarters cum PIO Punjab Police, that Bibi Jagir Kaur does not use any vehicle with a red light atop then. I provided the Information Commission with photographic evidence showing misuse of red lights atop her vehicle by Bibi Jagir Kaur in the presence of DC and SSP Kapurthala dated 1-07-09. Secondly that being Chairperson of Distt. Planning Committee Kapurthala, Bibi Jagr Kaur daily visits her office set up near the office of SSP and DC Kapurthala, then why no action has been taken against her?

Lastly, I insist that now since the Police are aware of the illegal vehicles being run by Bibi Jagir Kaur, concrete criminal action under Section 420, 479, 482, 483 etc. be taken against her for misleading, cheating and maintaining vehicles with duplicate numbers. In case appropriate action in this matter is not taken, I would be left with no option but to approach the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
