Citizens Awareness Group in collaboration with Social Welfare Department,Chandigarh Administration organised Republic Day Function and Save GirlChild at Aganwari Building, Near Police Station, Sector 56, Chandigarhtoday. Sh. Surinder Verma, Chairman Citizens Awareness Group recalled thesacrifices made by the great martyrs in the field of freedom struggle andDr. B.R. Amedkar for writing the Indian Constitution which has beendescribed as megna carta in the world. He advised the participants to joinhands and strengthen the nation. He also administrated oath to save the girlchild to all the participants present on the programme.Dr. Meena Sharma said that girl child is being celebrated to bring theproblems being faced by the her to center stage and to generate awareness onthe plight and rights of the girl child. This day will also reinforce ourcommitments to sensitize the society about the issues related to thedevelopment and empowerment of the girl child in the society.Mrs. Meetu executive secretary of Citizens Awareness Group proposed vote ofthanks and said that organization would continue to organize such nationalevents and honour dedicated and committed workers for such a Nobel cause.The organization will also honour those women who have or will have onlygirl child in the family. Aganwari workers and children participated in the cultural events and sangpatriotic songs which was appreciated by all & one. Those who are presentthe occasion were Mrs Sanyogita, CDPO, Mrs. Sudesh, Supervisor and otherprominent persons of the area.
