SHIMLA: Efforts are afoot to curb the illegal practice of pre-natal sex determination technique in the State, besides keeping strict vigil over the ultrasound clinics and imaging centers. This was disclosed by Director, Health and Family Welfare,Sulakshana Puri while presiding over the State level Advisory Committee meeting on pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic technique (PNDT) Act 1994, here today.

HARYANA: As many as 69.14 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the Haryana during the current Rabi season so far which is 16.09 lakh more than the corresponding period of the last year. Out of this maximum wheat has been purchased by the Government Procuring Agencies.

HARYANA: To meet the increasing demand of electricity in the area of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) comprising of districts, Faridabad, Palwal, Mewat, Gurgaon, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa, DHBVN and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) plan to augment capacity of their 45 existing substations of different levels at a cost of over Rs.100 crore.

CHANDIGARH: State Vigilance Bureau, in a drive against corruption in public life, arrested six Non-Gazzetted Officers (NGOs) in five different cases in last month and was able to secure the conviction of twelve accused in seven different vigilance cases.

HARYANA: With a view to discourage indiscriminate use of plastic carry bags responsible for causing pollution, the Haryana Government has decided to impose penalty from Rs 25000 to Rs 50000 to all the manufacturing units manufacturing banned category of plastic bags, a penalty from Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 to the retailers, vendors and other establishments for providing banned category of plastic bags to customers and Rs 250 to Rs 500 for the individuals found to be littering the public places with these plastic carry bags.
