The defeat of the SAD – BJP Govt. in the Lok Sabha polls is a result of gross misrule, misgovernance, misuse of civil and police machinery and the arrogant rule offered by the Badal family in Punjab. The electorate of Punjab have virtually rejected the perpetuation of family rule in Punjab.



Needless to mention that the last over two years of the SAD-BJP Govt. saw complete take over of important trades by the Sukhbir Badal – Bikram Majithia duo in the State. Sh. Sukhbir Badal in connivance with the mafia has captured the entire sand quarrying business which if allowed fairly would have been a major source of revenue for the State. Congress alleges that the Badal family have caused a loss of hundreds of crores of State exchequer by allowing mafia to capture the sand business. Similarly entire transport business has been usurped by the Badal’s, so has the cable network business in the State. Bikram Majithia has virtually overtaken the bulk liquor business in the Punjab with the support of Sh. Sukhbir Badal.



Congress party urges Sh. Sukhbir Badal to immediately quit as Dy. CM, since he never had the mandate of the people of Punjab and has made back door entry to the office. S. Parkash Singh Badal is responsible for imposing his son’s leadership upon the people of Punjab, who have outrightly rejected the leadership of Sh. Sukhbir Badal.



The present Govt. has in a well planned conspiracy victimized Congress cadres in the State right down to the village level by misusing the police in Punjab. Thousands of false cases have been slapped against Congress men in order to intimidate them. Congress party alleges that there are two sets of rule, one for Akali’s who scott free even after committing serious criminal offences and the other for the Congress who have to face the wrath of the police on false grounds.



People of Punjab also watched helplessly the murder of democracy in Punjab during the Panchayat, Zila Parishad and Municipal election. Unprecedented thousands of petitions have been filed by the victims of the State in the High Court.



To sum it all up the popular quote of Abrahim Lincoln “Democracy is of, for and by the people” has been twisted by the Badal family to “Democracy in Punjab is of, for and by the Badal’s”. Therefore Congress urges all those self respecting legislators in the Akali Dal and BJP to introspect and offer Punjab a respectable alternative leadership other than the Badal family which is responsible for ruining Punjab politically, socially and economically.
