CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday unanimously passed two important bills related to environmental issues, first seeking complete ban on polythene bags and removing encroachments from village Ponds and second enacting law to ban burning of wheat and rice straw in fields.

CHANDIGARH: State Vigilance Bureau, in a drive against corruption in public life, arrested 15 Non-Gazzetted Officers (NGOs) and a private person in fifteen different cases in last month and was able to secure the conviction of nine accused in ninevigilance cases.
