Capt.Kanwaljit Singh's son Jasjit Singh Bunny resigns from SAD

Announces to contest as an independent from Patiala Lok Sabha seatCHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) Friday got a big jolt when Jasjit Singh Bunny son of former cooperation minister late Capt Kanwaljit Singh resigned from the primary membership of SAD and announced to contest as an independent candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha seat.
"I have decided to contest as an independent candidate from Patiala and tender my resignation from the SAD" was all Bunny told media at a hurriedly convened press conference on Friday. He has also resigned from post of Chairman of Punjab Cooperative Bank.
The announcement by Bunny caught the SAD leadership by surprise while even the last rites of Capt. Kanwaljit Singh are yet to be performed. The Bhog ceremony of Cap. Kanwaljit Singh is slated for April 5. He died in a road accident on March 29 last.
The family of Capt Kanwaljit Singh was keen to adjust Bunny as a minister in the Parkash Singh Basdal cabinet. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal a few days back ahd told the media while replying to a question that there is no need to adjust Bunny since he is already Chairman of Punjab Cooperative Bank. The statement by Sukhbir Badal understood to have triggered anger in the Capt's family. Even close confidants of late Kanwaljit Singh were surprised at the Bunny's action.

Ils sont arrivés, avec un peu plus d’une demi-heure de retard, au Palais des Rohan de Strasbourg où les attendaient Nicolas et Carla Sarkozy. Devant cette ancienne demeure en grès rose des princes évêques de Rohan, les poignées de main furent longues et plus que chaleureuses: les chefs d’Etat et leurs épouses ne furent pas avares en embrassades et autres accolades et sourires pour les photographes. La 'scandaleuse' Michelle Obama va découvrir que les usages sont moins rigides que chez la Queen!
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, pour son grand retour, était vêtue d’un manteau gris-beige ceinturé aux manches trois quarts tandis que son «homologue» américaine Michelle Obama portait un manteau noir imprimé de fleurs fuchsia sur une robe fuchsia imprimée de fleurs noires.
Après une brève cérémonie militaire en l’honneur des chefs d’Etat, les deux couples présidentiels se sont retrouvés quelques minutes avant que ces messieurs n’entament leur premier entretien (physique) bilatéral depuis l’investiture de Barack Obama, le 20 janvier dernier.
Pendant ce temps-là, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy et Michelle Obama ont eu le plaisir de déjeuner en tête-à-tête (à 11h!) autour d’un repas préparé par le chef étoilé Christophe Bohrer dans un salon du palais: asperges vertes et coquilles saint-Jacques marinées, pintade en croûte de pommes de terre farcie au foie gras, et coque chocolat aux agrumes. Miam! Plus appétissant, en tous cas, que le menu qui attendait Nicolas Sarkozy et Barack Obama: le Pakistan, l'Afghanistan, de l'Iran, du Proche-Orient, les relations avec la Russie et bien sûr, l'Otan.
